Hi guys! I wanna recommend you a very useful method you probably already know. This is the Vaughan one. Richard Vaughan, an American English teacher, has been settled in Spain since 1970s trying to find out the best way to learn a second language. He has developed a teaching method based on the improvement of the communicative skills which has spread out throughout the whole country. In my opinion, his radio channel is a good way to get in touch with the English language, a good way to get English lessons without any effort while you are doing whatever you like to do. I hope it helps Try it on the following link: https://grupovaughan.com/vaughan-radio/ ☝ See you around!

EASTER TRADITIONS

Imagen
I was wandering how to explain the greatness of this festivity in the English speaking countries, specially in UK, however, I must admit that this time, I am describing one of the most important worldwide Christian festivals of the year, full of customs, folklore and traditional food all over the world. In Spain, Easter is locally known as Holy Week, one of our most important festivities. Devoted people are waiting during the whole year to join in an amazing and stunning religious celebration. It stands out for its epic brotherhoods’ processions and unique, age-old traditions specific to each region. The atmosphere is usually solemn and inmersed in emotion. It is directly related to their most inner religious demonstrations of faith. We turn the streets into an improvised stage to dramatise Christ’s death and resurrection during Holy Week. Striking pictures of medieval figures in candlelit processions are published daily during these days. These pictures emphasise Spain’s

Erin go bragh!

Saint Patrick's Day comes every year and the world is dyed in green colours, but how much do we know about Saint Patrick's Day and its origins? In spite of being an Irish tradition, Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated all over the world. Besides of that, we are not sure about the date of his death, but this celebration occurs on March 17 in commemoration of Saint Patrick's death, the patron of Ireland. Therefore, it is a holy and religious day in the Catholic Church. St Patrick's Day celebrations often hide the mysteries and meaning behind the ancient figure, he was a fifth-century Romano-British Cristian misionary and Bishop in England. He was also known as the Apostle of Ireland and he is the main patron saint of the country, along with two other saints Brigit of Kildare and Columba. The idea of patron saint comes from both Roman Catholicism and Eastern Ortodoxy and the saint is actually seen as heavenly advocate of values like nation, place, craft and family, a

Thanksgiving Day

Imagen
Is there is any other so special national day for the Americans?  Thanksgiving is one of the most important events for the American people. For many of them, this holiday is even more important than Christmas in the United States, but do we know why? How this day has become an icon for the American culture? Let's go deeply into the origins of  the Thanksgiving day. This pagan event  can be traced back to the 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the religious refugees from England, known popularly as the Pilgrims, invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season. The previous year's harvests had failed and in the winter of 1620, half of the pilgrims had starved to death. Luckily for the rest, members of the local Wampanoag tribe taught the Pilgrims how to grow corn, beans and squash, catch fish, and collect seafood. There are only two contemporary accounts of the 1621 Thanksgiving, but it's clear tha

Halloween

Imagen
Halloween is an annual holiday, celebrated each year on October 31st, that has roots in age-old European traditions. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.       In the 18th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as a time to honour all saints; soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween.       Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating and carving jack-o-lanterns. Around the world, as days grow shorter and nights get colder, people continue to usher in the season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats.       If you are interested on some more intormation about this festivity, perhaps, you should have a look on the following website: http://www.halloween-website.com/ It is a must to be aware about the most important traditions in English speaking
